Home Visits

Because the children are dispersed across 21 rural villages, help from a volunteer caregiver in each village

has been vital for the well-being of the children and regular communication with HCOC. Caregivers help to disperse supplies from HCOC to child headed households and other children in need during regular home visits.

The purpose of the HCOC home-visits are to help monitor the living conditions and health status of the children, as well as to deliver desperately needed supplies of food, clothing, shoes, blankets and other necessities, particularly when children are not in school.

Gaylord lost his father and mother while in primary school, and says that, “Had it not been for HCOC, my life could have been in shambles.” Financial challenges were about to force him to drop out when HCOC stepped in.

“HCOC took care of my welfare, and I managed to live a normal life. They still assist me when they can, and my special thanks also go to ZMP for taking care of my welfare during my primary and secondary education."

Gaylord now attends the University of Zimbabwe. His costs are partially sponsored by a Rotarian—a connection made through HCOC—and by Renewed Hope Charitable Foundation. Between semesters he lives in Murewa with an aunt who, due to age and health, is becoming dependent on him.

While continuing his education, Gaylord is giving back to HCOC by serving as a student on attachment. He's learning accounting to help assure his future, and helping vulnerable children receive the same support he did.

"On behalf of all the HCOC beneficiaries, allow me to express our sincere gratitude for everything you have done. I understand that your generosity isn’t because you have abundant resources, but stems from sacrifices and the love you have for us as disadvantaged young. Who knew an orphan could have such a privilege to be exposed to the world of professionals? God bless you for that. HCOC has completely transformed my life , and I'm profoundly honored and exceedingly humbled. I will face more challenges, but I will be man enough to stand up to the challenges in the future."
